To draw the moon is to get to know her.
I can say that, with a pencil, I have walked around her; with plaster, I have given form to her basalt craters; with embroidered crystals, I have illuminated her phases.
I landed in a lunarscape; I dove into the Mare Serrenitatis; I navigated through the Mare Crisium; and finally, I awoke in the Lacus Somniorum.
The Earth’s shadow is cast on the Moon -- so we inhabit her. To look at the phases of the Moon is to look at ourselves.
